Our Company History

Dr Tan Weng Lai is the founder of Planet Barley Sdn Bhd, a company established in 2007 which distributes health & beauty products to several market segments including pharmacies, health food shops, medical halls and beauty salons. He was admitted to his Bachelor Degree of Pharmacy with First Class Honours at The University of Bath, UK in 1981 and in the following year, completed his training program in Addenbrook’s Hospital, a teaching hospital in Cambridge. In 1986, he graduated from The Australian National University (ANU) with the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) after spending 3 years of research work in the John Curtin School of Medical Research (JCSMR).

Before devoting his work fulltime to Planet Barley Sdn Bhd, in 2007, Dr Tan gained vast experiences in the Malaysian pharmacy retail and wholesale industries which have subsequently laid the foundation and spearheaded his interest into delevoping natural, safe and effective products for people’s health and beauty. His philosophy is simple — He believes that Natural products work and they are always safer and environmentally friendlier than their synthetic alternatives.
